I'm excited to share about Skyrise's first acoustic performance at The Fish House on Tuesday, July 23rd! The Fish House is a homey, family-oriented venue, so we decided to match their atmosphere with a drum-less set, turning rock anthems into granola tunes, and incorporating more country, soft grunge, and indie music. Some of my favorite additions were “Need You Now” by Lady A, “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton, “Plush” by the Stone Temple Pilots, and “Dog & Butterfly” by Heart. This performance also provided an opportunity for Skyrise's lead vocalist, Alexys, and I to share some of our original music as a duo, which will be released later this year.
I especially enjoyed getting to sing a lot throughout this gig, as we focused a lot of rehearsal attention to vocal harmonies and instrumental arrangement in order to have a cohesive sound in the absence of drums. This was an exciting challenge, and the result was a beautifully intimate performance that showcased our versatility as a band.
We are extremely grateful to Ms. Angela Rivero and The Fish House for giving us the opportunity to perform in such a welcoming environment. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support us and experience this acoustic set. We're eager to incorporate more acoustic performances into our schedule and can't wait to share them with you all again in the future!
